Snoring Help and Advice

Don’t let snoring disrupt your life. At Rosyth Dental Care, we can help improve your health and eliminate issues caused by daytime sleepiness.

What is snoring?

Snoring happens when the airway partially closes during sleep because the neck muscles relax. This causes the soft tissues in the throat to vibrate, producing the snoring sound.

Effects

Snoring can negatively affect the quality of life for the snorer, their partner, and even the rest of the family. Poor sleep may lead to daytime tiredness, low energy, reduced motivation, higher stress levels, and difficulties concentrating or driving safely. More serious health risks linked to snoring include high blood pressure, an increased risk of diabetes, and cardiovascular problems.

Sleep Apnoea

In severe cases, a person may temporarily stop snoring and breathing, only to start again with a choke, gasp, or snort. Each pause in breathing reduces oxygen supply, prompting the brain to partially wake the body by releasing adrenaline, which disrupts restful sleep. This can leave the person feeling constantly tired and may contribute to various health problems. This condition is called Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA).

Is this you?

If you notice any of the symptoms mentioned—or even if your partner keeps pointing them out—Rosyth Dental Care can help. Working alongside your GP and, in cases of sleep apnoea, using a sleep study recorder to confirm the diagnosis, we can provide a Sleepwell device to improve your sleep and overall health.

Introducing Sleepwell

A Sleepwell device is custom-made to fit your teeth, using impressions taken by one of our dentists at Rosyth Dental Care. It is a two-piece device with a soft inner lining that can be adjusted for optimal comfort and effectiveness. Clinically proven, it offers a life-changing solution for snorers and those living with them.

Snoring treatment starts from £480.
